Canton Fine Arts exhibition
The Village Theater at Cherry Hill is pleased to exhibit artwork from the 27th Annual Canton Fine Arts Exhibition from October 1 – 26, 2019, bringing together works of some of the best artists throughout southeastern Michigan. The exhibit contains works in a variety of media, including: oil, acrylic, airbrush, inks, clay, colored pencil, ink stippling, woodcut, sculptures, mixed media, pastels, and photography.
A special Artists Awards reception, that is free and open to the public, will be held on Friday, October 4, starting at 6:30 p.m., with the Awards Ceremony slated to begin at 7:30 p.m.
This year’s exhibition received a total of 137 works of art submitted by 48 artists. Kay Masini, this year’s Canton Fine Arts Exhibition juror selected 40 pieces representing 26 of the artists who entered the current art show.
Masini is a full-time artist who paints with various media and works in different styles to explore new ways of communication through art. Her art vocabulary keeps expanding and, with it, her knowledge and appreciation of unique and different points of view. Masini has studied styles of Realism and Abstraction and experimented with the different media used in creating art in the workshops of nationally known master artists. She studied at the Chicago Art Institute and for a summer at Oxford University in England. Masini holds a Bachelor of Art degree from the Dominican University in Illinois.
“The world is not just one picture,” stated Juror Kay Masini. “Each viewpoint, each style begins on an equal footing. When we look at the art of the past we see what the people treasured in that time - and in the future people will look back at our art to see what we valued in the 21st century…Art has its own beauty and truths.”
