Michigan Philharmonic Presents “In the Mood for Swing” At The Village Theater at Cherry Hill


Swing into Valentine’s weekend and celebrate with a fun concert full of great music from that jump jivin’ era known as “Swing”. The Michigan Philharmonic will bring the house down with music from Duke Ellington, Billy Strayhorn, Harry Warren and more, featuring great songs such as “Chattanooga Choo Choo, “As Time Goes By, “Take the A Train, and “Get Happy”.


Detroit vocalist, Lauren Norris will join the orchestra to help everyone get in the spirit. Norris earned her Master’s in Musical Theatre Performance from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and a BA from Marymount Manhattan College. She has performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and been featured on a BBC radio broadcast working internationally with a wide variety of artists. Lauren is a Michigan native and graduated from Salem High School!

Embarking on her 20th season as Music Director and Conductor of the Michigan Philharmonic Nan Washburn is driving the classical music scene in SE Michigan with programming that celebrates innovation and diversity while focusing on education for people of all ages. This upcoming 18-19 season, entitled “The NANiversary”, celebrates the programming which has put the Michigan Philharmonic on the map.
