Community Connection Day

On Saturday, April 29, Canton Leisure Services in partnership with Canton Public Safety and Plymouth-Canton Community Schools, will be hosting a Community Connection Day for special populations.  With this event, participants can come meet Canton Public Safety’s First Responders.  We are thrilled to launch this exciting initiative to dispel fears that may be associated with lights, sirens, or authority figures in the disability community. Stop in and enjoy an interactive Public Safety display, get answers to of the questions you always wanted to ask police officers/EMS personel/firemen, and learn more about many critical local programs and resources.  Light lunch options will be available for purchase.

A special thank you to Building Bridges Therapy for their generous sponsorship to help make this event possible. We would also like to thank: Fat Wheels, Contemporary Dentistry, Special Olympics, Miracle League, Kelly’s Kidz, Autism Alliance of Michigan, EMU Autism Collaborative Center, and Mt. Brighton Adaptive Sports

It is the season for PROM!  Our annual prom will once again be held at Fellow’s Creek Golf Club. We are so excited for the evening!  This year's festive event will be held on May 6th.  This time around, plenty of glitz and glam will be coming to Canton with our theme of “Hollywood - Let Your Inner Star Shine!” So, come ready to walk the red carpet and let yourself shine in the spotlight!

Pam Mansfield

TR WHO'S WHO: Pam Mansfield

Hi, my name is Pam Mansfield and I love working with all of the participants of Therapeutic Recreation because not only is it important to me to address each and everyone on their personal needs level, but also it is important to me to guarantee fun and appropriate activities for all!
For the past 25 years plus, I have lived and worked in the Canton community and am the mother of two.(Marvin 30 and Danielle 29). I love being involved with animal rescue and enjoy spending time with my family and friends (this includes my pets!!) I look forward to working with all our participants this year!

Thank You!

We would like to thank MOD Pizza for allowing Therapeutic Recreation to host a fundraiser on March 29. We appreciate parents, friends, and family who came out to support this great program!

Important Reminders

  • Make plans to head on over to the Summit on the Park when Canton Leisure Services will host its annual Mom to Mom Sale on Saturday, April 22 from 8am t Noon.  Therapeutic Recreation will have a booth set up at the sale selling pizza, cookies, brownies, and other goodies.  All proceeds from the sale of the will benefit our Summer Camps!

“The Expected and Unexpected Hero’s” was a fantastic success!  4th Wall and Canton Leisure Services presented the play on March 8 at The Village Theater at Cherry Hill. Everyone enjoyed the event and watching our Hero’s save the city by signing “One Call Away” by Charley Puth, and using their super skills of singing and acting to assist.

Therapeutic Recreation was the recipient of a very generous donation from the Greater Canton Youth Baseball Softball Association. The association shared with us some of the concession profits that their volunteers worked hard at all season long! Thank you so very much!  Head out and catch one of their games!

In March Therapeutic Recreation gave back and assembled care packages for our Military. Those packages will go overseas to our much deserving Service Men and Women! Thank you to everyone that helped with this mission!
